BAM delivered a 12,000m² Data Centre for a large multinational Data Company. The Structure consisted of an Insulated Clad Steel framed building with a mezzanine floor and associated offices internally, along with external Refrigeration and cooling plant compounds. Internal floors were completed to FM2 standard and finished with inert epoxy to ensure cleanliness.

The building is ventilated and cooled to provide a strictly controlled environment for the Data Centre. There is a 7 bay generator compound providing critical back up power to the data and cooling system. The envelope was sealed and pressure tested to achieve 2.5m³ / m² / hr at 50PA. A walk on ceiling created a coordinated sterile distribution zone for chilled air return plenum above the racking system.

Substantial substructure works included over 100 heavily reinforced concrete pads and holding down bolt sets for structural steel, lift pits and stair core bases.

Installation of over 600t of structural steel over 2 levels (and mezzanine) in a very short time period. Over 10,000m² of internal Reinforced Concrete Floors were completed to an FM 2 Standard over a period of 8 weeks at ground and first floor. The contract included completion of epoxy flooring (of several types) to both floor levels of main Data Halls. Works included full scope from preparation of slab, establishing and maintaining appropriate conditions in terms of temperature and dust management etc. to full completion including line marking, mastic jointing and final clean/handover. Forming and trimming of over 70 openings in building façade was completed in order to accommodate a wide range of service penetrations. Site works included a significant drainage installation including attenuation, interceptors, and specialist works associated with the large generator compound. Site works also include the installation of a complex network of power and data ducting infrastructure in a quite restricted site footprint

The construction programme was fast track requiring double shift work and BAM controlled the room readiness schedule and delivery of the owner furnished specialist equipment. BAM completed the design development of all the major works packages during the planning process and were instrumental in introducing a number of Value Engineering proposals. BAM provided a guaranteed maximum price for the works.
