Biotech Manufacturing Facility.
BAM completed the Civil/Structural/Architectural elements of the project. In addition to these self performing works BAM were also responsible for managing Field Operations within the Lilly Construction Management team. This involved the pre-qualification of all discipline contractors and continuous supervision and monitoring of performance.
The facility provides the capability for Lilly to produce market launch quantities of various therapeutic products. The project scope includes the Biotech Manufacturing Facility, addition of utilities and site improvements.
The facility consists of three parts:
- A Ground Floor clean process area that provides both upstream and downstream cell culture processing. The process support block houses the Pharmadule process modules.
- A process support area located on a Lower Ground Floor directly below the processing area includes many utility and waste functions, along with various maintenance functions.
- A Ground Floor administrative block that is adjacent to the process area contains offices, lockering, personnel support, shipping and receiving
The IE 42 building is split between the facility support block (housing the administration area, warehouse and weigh & dispense area) and the process support block (housing the Pharmadule process modules).
A reinforced concrete retaining wall divides the 2 blocks and this allows the lower ground floor of the process area containing the utilities to have a finished floor level of 8.3m below that of the Process Area and Facility Support Block
