Ascon have been working at this Microchip Manufacturing complex since 1990.
In that time Ascon have completed works to E.S.S.M., Fab 10, Fab 14 and Fab 24.
Earthworks/Site Development Package
Site development work involved in clearance, provision of site access roads, site drainage and underground utilities as well as the excavation of basements and deep trenches for the Fab area and support buildings.
Excavation quantities were 650,000 cm, of which 330,000cm was solid rock.
Ascon also operated a quarry crushing operation on site which allowed the excavation rock to be utilised for filling.
Foundation and RC Structure:
This comprised basement floor slabs, slabs on grade, suspended reinforced concrete floors and associated RC columns and walls. The upper slab was 750 mm tk. waffle construction. The structure comprised a total of 90,000 sq. m of plan area. Exceptionally tight tolerances and quality statements were required in all structural elements. A key factor achieved by Ascon in these works was the integration of 'Fast Track' construction with a total dedication to the highest Safety & Quality standards.
The use of the innovative formwork systems and Ascon's own fleet was a key factor.
